What do people value most in personal communication? You can make your own list of characteristics of successful communication, but understanding is one of the key factors, for sure. When a consumer contacts an e-commerce site’s support team or makes an appointment with a specialist about a particular issue, they expect understanding and a quick and positive response. In reality, these conditions are often not met:

  • The support service may not be able to respond to all site visitors immediately.
  • Hiring specialists for all the local languages in which the services are offered is too expensive.
  • Questions asked by customers often go beyond the competence of duty managers or can upset them emotionally due to the aggressive position of the buyer.

All these problems are solved with the help of AI applications that mimic human-like communication. AI-based Chatbots have a perfect reaction, broad outlook, emotional neutrality, and tirelessness. Create AI application with CHI Software, whose experience and original solutions allow you to develop truly unique products that will become the highlight of your brand.

Some Secrets of Developing AI Applications

Choosing a Programming Language

If you think that to create AI Software, programmers need to learn some special language, this is not so. Most applications are written in well-known programming languages.

Programming LanguagesPrevalenceEase of masteringAdvantagesDisadvantages
PythonA versatile variant that is used in most casesData scientists and other IT specialists with no programming experience can easily handle PythonSimplicity and concisenessEasy to learn, read, and develop applications Well documentedA wide support communitySlow programming speedThe code is poorly optimized
Java/JavaScript Very popular programming language Available for learning (the basic Java is mastered in 4-5 months)Large developer communityStatically typedFaster programming speed Easy to find errorsCode verbosityMuch to be done manuallySteep learning curve
C++Most common among game developersHarder to learn than Python and JavaWell documentedMultifunctionalGreater security The ability to use templates when writing codeRequires a lot of manual workThe error search stage is imperfectPlatform dependencyCode verbosity
RPopular among data scientistsDifficult to learn without programming experienceGood integration with other languagesGreat for handling large amounts of dataMany packages availableNonstandardized codeLow speed of programmingSteep learning curveNarrow scope

In addition, programmers also resort to languages such as C/C#, Prolog, Lisp, and others although they are less common.

Application Interface

Some programmers think that the most important thing in an application is advanced functionality that competitors don’t have. However, excellent features without a unique and captivating interface are unlikely to interest a wide audience or satisfy the customer. It should be remembered that today, there are already almost 6 million applications available on the leading online application stores, and according to Statista forecasts, there will be 176.1 million downloads in the Games segment alone by 2027. Therefore, so that the efforts, time, and resources spent on AI app development are not wasted, UI-UX design should be given special attention.

Versions and Updates

It’s not enough to create an app with AI — you need to constantly maintain user interest in it. A great way to do this is to release new versions and updates.

  • This is an occasion to remind consumers about yourself.
  • It is a good pretext for a marketing campaign.
  • This is cheaper than developing and launching a new, more advanced software product on the market.

Therefore, when developing and launching an AI application, leave a few not-so-important features for later use. They will form the basis for the new version and delight your consumers.

ChatGPT Use Cases That May Inspire You

The success of ChatGPT was so resounding and all-encompassing that many companies wanted to create software products based on this technology for their business needs. The programming communities have also been responsive to the possibilities of using GPT and have released their versions of GPT-based applications. Check out some of the ideas that have been implemented by CHI Software recently.

Chatbot for an Internet & Mobile Communication Provider

Any person who has chosen a new tariff plan for themselves knows how difficult it can sometimes be to sort out all the details. However, thanks to the ChatGPT application, embodied in a cartoon-like character, this turns into exciting entertainment. The application uses the Tamagochi principle. Users can evolve the cutest emperor penguin, teaching it new words, which it will later kindly repeat.

Recommendation System for Cosmetics Online Store

Shoppers often have difficulty choosing skin care products such as creams, lotions, masks, and other beauty products. They are designed for various skin types and solve different tasks when applied. Therefore, the next ChatGPT use case was about creating an original AI solution for advising clients. The online store launched an app based on ChatGPT to save visitors from meticulous study of all instructions, acquaint them with the novelties of the market, and help them select the most suitable ones:

  • Clients upload their selfies.
  • AI carefully studies the characteristics of the skin of the buyer and other parameters.
  • ChatGPT offers a personalized list of recommendations from the assortment of the store

.

These are just a couple of ideas from the many projects that CHI Software implements for consumers from various industries, including:

  • Retail sale
  • Logistics
  • Insurance
  • Real estate
  • Media, and others

You can consult with the best IT specialists in the company regarding the idea and implementation of your AI app project, or you can order its full development. In any case, its success will inspire you to new achievements and further development of your business.

Without apps, a smartphone is similar to an outdated Nokia or Motorola that can only be used for calls and text messages. These phones lack touch screens, relying instead on the traditional buttons. Such archaic features are not compatible with the needs of the 21st century. On the other hand, apps are now an essential part of our daily lives, with the average user spending nearly 5 hours a day in them. Moreover, in 2021, users downloaded 230 billion new apps, a 5% year-over-year increase.

This high demand has driven businesses to launch apps quickly and cost-effectively, leading to the development of cross-platform solutions. However, despite being a cheaper option, these apps lack the performance, stability, UX, and crash protection of native mobile applications. Native app development may be more expensive, but it also offers higher quality, better customer loyalty, and a better user experience. In this article, we will explore the benefits of native mobile app development in more detail.

Native App Development: What Is It?

Native app development refers to the process of building a separate app for each operating system, such as Android and iOS. It is typically more expensive than cross-platform or web approaches, but it can be a beneficial investment in the long term. The main benefit of this type of development is that it allows for full compliance with the guidelines of a specific operating system, resulting in higher stability, better performance, and easier scalability. Additionally, native apps require less maintenance and fix post-release.

In contrast, cross-platform development is an affordable and fast option, as it allows you to build one application that covers both Android and iOS platforms. However, it comes with potential performance issues, UX flaws, and update complexities due to the lack of integration with the particular operating system.

Finally, progressive web apps (PWAs) are web applications with an enhanced user experience that makes them similar to mobile apps. Users don’t have to download them because they are run in a browser, but they can still install them on the home screen if necessary, receive notifications, and run the app offline. From the tech standpoint, PWAs are fast and easy to maintain.

Tools & Technologies

Despite the fact that there are many operating systems, our focus is creating mobile apps for iOS and Android. They have effectively managed to capture a majority of the market, leading to a 99% market share.

When constructing a native app, a developer utilizes a specific programming language exclusive to either iOS or Android. To put it simply, the expert speaks a language the system is able to comprehend. Now, let’s explore the tech stack for native app development a bit further.

Android-Specific Programming

Developers use two coding languages to create high-end native Android apps: Java and Kotlin. Java has been the main technology for Android development until 2019, and its APIs are designed to be called primarily from Java. There is a strong community support and a rich ecosystem of tools and libraries available for Java. Google has declared Kotlin as the preferred language for Android development since 2019. Kotlin is an evolution of Java and is 100% interoperable with the language. Both Java and Kotlin can be used together in an Android application, with elements of both languages included.

iOS-Specific Programming

In 2014, a new programming language, Swift, was introduced which revolutionized the way iOS developers created applications. This language offers superior security and performance, as well as a range of powerful tools that make iOS apps more expressive. As a result, Swift has become the language of preference, replacing Objective-C as the main coding language for iOS developers.

Benefits of Native App Development

  1. Seamless Performance and Fast Operating Speed: Native apps are coded specifically for a certain platform, allowing them to take advantage of platform-specific elements and APIs that already take into account the peculiarities of branded devices, resulting in better performance.
  2. Great UI/UX: Native applications integrate seamlessly into their devices’ OS interfaces, making them look and feel like an extension of the device, creating an intuitive interface that is simple to use.
  3. Better Security and Reliability: Native apps are well-protected by several layers of an operating system and rely on official trustworthy APIs, reducing the app’s overall vulnerability. In addition, developers can offer embedded certification and in-app multifactor authentication, making it a secure way to store sensitive data.
  4. Up-to-Date SDK: Native application development implies higher flexibility in terms of available features, as both Apple and Google constantly update their SDKs. This allows developers to minimize the number of bugs and ensures enhanced stability.
  5. Easy to Launch in the App Stores: As a native app has to follow the regulations of either Google Play or Apple’s App Store, the launch process is much faster and easier.
  6. Hardware Features: Native apps have full access to the device’s hardware features, allowing developers to take advantage of a camera, GPS, or microphone to add advanced functionality.
  7. Access to a Pool of Expertise: Native app development allows you to find a professional developer with years of experience and deep expertise in the specific mobile operating system. This helps to reduce errors and speed up the development process.
  8. Scalability: Native apps are easier to scale because they focus on either Android or iOS users. This allows for more efficient use of existing hardware and more opportunities to split the data flow, making it easier to accommodate more traffic.
  9. Advanced Customization: Native app development gives developers the freedom to create highly customized applications. There are plenty of flexible tools and solutions available to use, allowing for more advanced customization than cross-platform frameworks.

Is It Worth Going Native?

Do the potential benefits of native mobile app development outweigh the costs? If you are considering this option, you may be wondering if the quality and performance of a native app are worth the investments needed. With features such as stunning design, high-resolution graphics, rapid operating speed, and a rich feature set, a native mobile application can provide you with a competitive advantage. However, you may need help to determine if the advantages of a native application will be worth the cost in the long run. If you would like assistance with this decision, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are eager to hear from you.

Your professional development should take place in three stages:

1) A trial period. You must try this type of activity.
The fact is that mastering a profession takes six months or even a year of study. And you need, as early as possible, to understand whether you can or not. It’s worth investing your time and even money. Or wait for disappointment.

In this period you need to learn 2-3 technologies of real programming. But they should not require a lot of time to master. If you can handle it, it makes sense to spend the promised six months to a year on the next stage.

2) Self-study.
If you have passed the previous stage, you can invest your time in mastering the profession.

3) Internship.
Your first job and first money.

The trial period
What to do!

There’s really only one way to find out if you can do it or not. “To start programming, you have to start programming. And to start programming, you have to start programming!”

A lot of people think programming is hard, you have to know a lot to be a programmer. And that’s true. If it were easy, they wouldn’t get paid such big salaries. But on the other hand, there are many books freely available. And most of them are of high quality. Professionals from big companies tend to write huge books or articles where they describe their invaluable experience to others. Strange people, of course. Instead of getting a huge amount of money for their work, they do book writing for which they get paid less, if not nothing at all. These “oddities” will be discussed later. For now, we must clearly understand that there are few secrets in this profession. Most of the questions can be solved by searching on the Internet. Therefore, despite the complexity, programming is one of the most accessible professions.

During the trial period, you need to decide the technology on which you will start. They should not be too difficult and long to learn. But, on the other hand, they must be in demand by the market, so that even those couple of weeks or a month spent on them are not wasted.

Training manuals
A very important question is what training manuals to use. Here are the options in the order you should go through them.

Video tutorials. There are now a lot of them on any topic. Youtube is sure to give out playlists on any popular technology. It’s all very clear, and you should start making your first “Hello, world!” with them. There’s only one disadvantage. They may not cover all the depths of the language you’re learning. But you’ll have enough problems without them.
Multimedia textbooks. Most likely collections of video lessons plus something else. Very often sold for money.
Books. The hardest to digest. They just cover more of the intricacies of various technologies. Save it for later. When you have exhausted the previous options.

But just please, here and hereafter. You do not need to buy any courses and pay for miracle textbooks. All the “miracles” have been lying around for a long time, on torrents at most.

Solutions to technical problems
Showing willpower and patience, you heroically began to study the subject. And you began to face all sorts of technical problems. You can do everything according to the instructions. But your examples may not work. If only because the instructions may have been written for previous versions of software tools. The hardest step may be with the first run of the source code that you just rewrote from a tutorial.

The most common mistakes have to do with the fact that beginners tend to rush into things and think some things are optional. You, like any normal person, think there are secondary points in programming books. You probably want to get a quick result, in the form of an internship position. And there, surrounded by competent colleagues, you will understand and thoroughly learn everything. Therefore, “some tutorial” on JavaScript, which will not even be your primary language. Can be perceived as a marathon distance to be overcome quickly. In fact, any programming textbook should be seen as a field to be plowed. Anyone who skips over the little things ends up with unsolvable problems. And instead of the company of competent colleagues, they end up completely alone in learning the material all over again.

For example, you’re bad at memorizing a minor term? A couple of days later, the code interpreter or compiler will give you a verbose output about the error. Which will contain dozens of terms, both those you’ve seen before in the textbook and those you haven’t. And the error you recognize may be the key one. Once you fix it, all the others will magically disappear. Most of the reasons you drop out at the beginning of the course have to do with parsing errors from the interpreter or compiler.

Low-level languages are designed to create machine commands for processors. Languages such as: Assembler and CIL.

Low-level languages were oriented to a certain type of processor and took into account its features, so in order to transfer a program written in assembler to another hardware platform it had to be almost completely rewritten. Differences also existed in program syntax for different compilers. Languages of low level are used mainly for writing small system programs, device drivers, modules of joints with non-standard equipment, programming of specialized microprocessors, when compactness, performance, and the possibility of direct access to hardware resources are important.

High-level programming languages
Features of specific computer architectures are not taken into account in them, so created applications are easily transferred from computer to computer. In most cases it is sufficient to simply recompile the program for a particular computer architecture and operating system. Developing programs in these languages is much easier and fewer errors are allowed.

High-level languages are created for convenience and greater efficiency of applications, they are the exact opposite of low-level languages. Their distinctive feature is the presence of semantic constructions which succinctly and briefly describe the structures and algorithms of programs.

The list of high-level programming languages: C, C#, “Fortran”, “Pascal”, Java are among the most used high-level syntaxes.

Nonprocedural languages
Non-procedural languages constitute a group of languages describing the organization of data processed according to fixed algorithms (tabular languages and report generators) and languages for communication with operating systems.

Allowing a clear description of both the problem and the actions necessary to solve it, decision tables make it possible to clearly define which conditions must be met before proceeding to any action. One decision table describing a certain situation contains all possible implementation flowcharts of solution algorithms.

Tabular methods are easily mastered by specialists of any profession.

How do you know if you need to study development at all? https://cartometric.com/need-to-study-development/ Wed, 02 Feb 2022 13:15:00 +0000 https://cartometric.com/?p=49 Many people, fascinated by the prospect of working in such a prestigious industry, go into it with only one goal in mind: money.

Many people, fascinated by the prospect of working in such a prestigious industry, go into it with only one goal in mind: money. They shell out a few thousand dollars for training, get a diploma, and sometimes that’s the end of it. Some don’t even finish their studies.

Why not? Because money is one of the weakest motivators. Allocate time, keep on learning programming languages month after month, try and make mistakes – it’s only possible if you really enjoy it.

Before you go on courses, you should at least try different directions in development, watch video blogs of IT people, write the simplest scripts. If you like it and want more, this is it.

If programming languages are given badly, learning them is boring and “does not fit” – it is better not to torment yourself. In IT-sphere there are many interesting specialties, which allow earning good money. If you like to communicate with people – you can go to HR, and if you are creative – look at web design.

Is it possible to learn programming on your own?
It is quite possible – this is how many top seniors in companies have learned. This is a young field, in which the educational process is still being formed. Universities that graduate programmers are few, their programs are outdated at the speed of light, and employers do not require a degree in a field of study. The main thing is to have knowledge and experience.

Therefore, the vast majority of “old-timers” are self-trained, there are also many of them among the new generation.

There is enough information, reference books and video lessons on the Internet. The main thing is to have enough assiduity and motivation to force yourself to learn.

For self-study it is important to break down the process into small tasks. Imagine that you are already working and have received an order. For example, you can create a small web site, get free hosting, put your learning site on the Internet and show it to your acquaintances. Or write a simple program that will carry a useful function. Realistic intermediate goals help you move quickly.

Another important point is to find a mentor. It will be good if you can make friends with a working programmer and ask him to help you to understand the difficult moments. Not all of the answers can be found on the Internet.

You will most likely be applying for a developer position. The position will be called by the programming language – for example, Java Developer, or by the direction – for example, Frontend Developer.

Junior – a novice programmer, a kind of intern. His experience is up to 6-18 months. At this stage, you need to understand what is being done and how to do it, but not necessarily be able to do it perfectly. The junior is actively learning from his own mistakes, and needs help from outside.

Middle – from the word “average.” Not yet a maestro, but already a confident independent expert. He or she is able to cope with the task without assistance. Able to interact with colleagues from his or her department and other departments, since understands not only “what” and “how”, but also “why”.

Senior – an expert with extensive experience, who can formulate his own task and schedule depending on the objectives of the business. Can solve problems ahead of time, even before they arise. Can delegate tasks between junior colleagues and help solve them.

Upon completion of training, you could say you are looking for a job as a programmer from scratch. With only theoretical knowledge and a little experience in implementing training and uncomplicated in-house projects. You’re a Junior. And the hardest thing for you is to find an employer without any real cases. What will you need?

Portfolio
During the process of training, you should have some experience. If they did not appear, then you have not studied well, and it is too early to look for work. Continue to practice. So, you should have examples of your own unique projects, written by yourself. Not by the manual from a textbook, not by the template from an online course, but from scratch, applying your knowledge. Very cool if it’s something original and spectacular, so it’s easy to demonstrate to a potential employer.

Prepare at least three or five such projects for your portfolio. Of course, the more the better. Before uploading it to the portfolio, let an experienced programmer or a user of an IT forum like Stackoverflow see the code.

C and C++ languages https://cartometric.com/c-languages/ Tue, 09 Nov 2021 12:41:00 +0000 https://cartometric.com/?p=31 This programming language is widely used to create system software and is very popular among software developers.

C
This programming language is widely used to create system software and is very popular among software developers. This language is characterized by the fact that it combines the features of high-level language, allowing the programmer to access all the machine resources, in contrast to Pascal and BASIC.

Structure of work in C
A structure in this language is a data type designed to combine data of different types into a single whole. The order in which the values are stored in memory is set when defining the type, and is preserved for the lifetime of the objects, which allows indirect access.

The structure type in C allows recursion, that is, the presence in its composition of pointers referring to objects of this very structure. Thus, structures in C combine the functionality not only of tuples and records, but also of algebraic types. To make it easy to understand, a structure is said to be a class with all fields public by default.

С++
C++ was developed by a Swedish programmer named Bjarne Stroustrup in the early 1980s. C++ has a few additional commands and operators, but the main difference is the approach to programming. The main reason for the popularity of C++ today is its support for object-oriented programming (OOP). OOP is a different way of writing programs that helps programmers write programs faster and with fewer errors. OOP also makes it possible to increase the speed of maintenance. This language is a “descendant” of the C language, but it has a number of significant differences.

Structure in C++
A structure is a collection of variables with a single name that provides a common way to store information together. Declaring a structure results in a pattern used to create structure objects. The variables that form a structure are called structure members.

Structures are useful when you need to combine several variables with different types under one name. This makes the program more compact and more flexible to make changes. Structures are also indispensable when you want to group together some data, such as a record from a database or a contact from an address book.

Differences in C and C++ structures
Classes and objects appeared in C++. Technically, a C++ class is a structure type in C and an object is a variable of that type. The only difference is that in C++ there are also access modifiers and fields can be not only data but functions;
What in C++ is inheritance, in C is just a structure in a structure;
In C++ there are two new operations: new and delete. When new is called, the constructor is automatically called and when delete is called, the destructor is called. The innovation can be described by the formula: new = malloc + constructor, delete = free + destructor;
In C++ there are functions which are called automatically after structure variable creation (constructors) and before its destruction (destructors). In all other respects, these are normal functions that are subject to a number of restrictions. Some of these restrictions are not justified and get in the way;
The C++ developers introduced the word var. And to make it look original, they renamed “var” to “&” and called it “reference”. This caused a lot of confusion, because C already had the concepts of “pointer” and “address” (denoted by the same symbol &), and the concept of “reference” also sounds like something pointing-addressing;
The desire of C programmers to control parameter types in definitions gave rise to inline functions in C++. Such a function is an usual define with parameters, but you don’t have to bother with “\” symbols and types are checked. The desire to legitimize in define parameters the name of a type gave rise to template. The main advantage of template is that #define with the same parameters will produce two identical pieces of code. And the compiler’s template is likely to be co-optimized: the same pieces of code will be concatenated into one;
Different standard file extensions. file.c means the file is written in C and file.cpp means the file is written in C++;
In C++ the void keyword is optional. Many C++ programmers include void as a means of improving program readability and indicating that the function has no parameters;
In C++, all functions must have prototypes. In C, this requirement is optional;
In C, a character constant is automatically incremented to an integer. This is not the case in C++;
In C, declaring a global variable more than once is not an error, although it does not serve as a sign of good programming. In C++, it is an error;
In C, an identifier has at least 31 significant characters. In C++, all characters are treated as meaningful;
In C, it is possible to call the main() function from a program, although this is atypical. In C++, this is not allowed;
In C, you cannot take the address of a register variable. In C++ you can do this.
